Physician email offers big boost to patient communication
Apart from being an excellent relationship and profile builder, email is a great reminder tool for clinical communications. Doctors tend to wait for a patient’s condition to get worse before bringing up the end-of-life topic but reminders may initiate those discussions earlier. According to a study from the Journal of Clinical Oncology, email increases the number of doctors talking with cancer patients about end-of-life planning before they became very sick, and record preferences in their medical records.
