Today, images not only get more social shares, but they also compel fans, viewers, and website visitors to stay longer on your site. As humans, we are naturally drawn to visual content. According to HP, we only remember 20% of what we read but we retain 80% of what we see!
But visuals for visuals sake isn’t good enough. If you want your graphics to engage your fans, followers, and prospects, your visual content has to be good, really good!
Recent research from HP shows that visual communication can be more powerful than verbal communication. This suggests that people learn and retain information that is presented in a visually manner much better than what is only provided verbally.
“Something is happening. We are becoming a visually mediated society. For many, understanding of the world is being accomplished, not through words, but by reading images.”
:: Paul Martin Lester, “Syntactic Theory of Visual Communication”
These findings are exciting to those of us who work in marketing, and who’s daily work involves visual presentations to persuade or inform others.
